“Mom, who’s going to pick us up at the airport?”
“I don’t know, but the ZOE missionaries have our itinerary. I’m sure someone will be there.”
After a 21-hour journey, we were overwhelmingly greeted by a Welcome sign and claps/cheers from the entire ZOE family…that’s 100+ children, ministry students, Thai staff and missionaries. Through the window we could see them all lined up, but we had to get through customs first. With 15 pieces of check-in baggage, 4 big carry-ons, 2 lap-top computers, purses, backpacks and pillows, we made quite a line. The customs employees started going through Rob’s first bag pulling out items. “Wow, how much are they going to charge us and are they going to go through everything?” Then P. Yim (ZOE Thai Staff & friend) came running in and explained to the employees that we just left our home in America and that this was all our things. She explained that we have come to work in a children’s home…and pointing to the 100+ ZOE family cheering she said, “These are the children.” The custom’s officials looked up and waved us all through, not charging us a cent!! God is good!!
