Loy Krathong Festival

Recently, the ZOE missionaries celebrated "Loy Krathong", a huge festival in Thailand. On the last night of a three-day celebration, we had dinner on the top of a 20-story hotel, so we could view the many lanterns, fireworks, and flowers set afloat on the Ping River. Although beautiful to see, the lanterns that are lit with fire and set into the sky and the flowers set afloat on the river are the Thai's way of "reliquishing their sins away" (at least during this festival). It is our prayer that they would one day know our Savior, who can take away all their sins.

The many little lights that filled the sky are not stars, but the lanterns sent into the sky by the people of Thailand, and those celebrating Loy Krathong.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner. We even got french fries and Coke! Need a little American food sometimes...

You want fireworks? Then you need to come to Thailand. You name it, they have it! We bought an assortment of fireworks and had loads of fun setting them off in front of the Ginoza's home. Rob and I thought these sticks were just huge sparklers. NOT! They're like firesticks, shooting fireworks way up into the sky every few seconds. It was endless. I had to take over for Kelly, because his hand was getting hot and tired.
