Lauren's Basketball Injury

(Lauren) Haha, yes it's true...and here is a picture to prove it. I was trying out for Grace International School's basketball team, and in the last five minutes of tryouts, I twisted my knee during a scrimmage. At first we thought I dislocated my knee, but it turns out that I may have injured the meniscus cartilage within my knee instead. Since it was swollen, the doctors couldn't pin-point exactly what was damaged. So, they wrapped up my leg and gave me a pair of crutches.

This past week has been extremely difficult, physically. Grace is a 3-story building, and all of my classes are either on the 3rd or on the bottom floor. I have to climb three flights of stairs after almost every class with crutches and a wrapped leg (my upper body and right leg are now super strong!! Yes!!). However, this week was also such a blessing. Many fellow students- some who were total strangers- came up to me and offered their help with my crutches and bags. Others told me that I was in their prayers. Although this injury has been hard, it has also been a blessing and a reminder of how wonderful the body of Christ is.

Please pray for a quick recovery. I once thought crutches were cool (we used to play around with dad's old crutches!), but now I detest them. I'm also dying to start playing basketball, because...I made the JV team! Lord willing, I will get to play.

Will the school let you wear your Rainbows to class while you are on crutches? Hope all turns out well.

Wow! Thats such a bummer that happened but at least you made the team. You'll be playing b-ball in no time and just think...you'll be so much stronger (upper body) when you start up again. Take care of yourself. I love you

Ouch! If it helps any, the cast reminds me of the time Donna ruptured her Achilles, she's doing even better nowadays. Prayers for a quick recovery! - The Odas
